County schools’ energy savings renovations are 87 percent complete

Scott County School District started making renovations to improve building energy efficency during the first week of June last year. After seven months of renovations included in the $4.17 million energy savings performance contract (ESPC), Johnson  Control has completed 87 percent of the projects.

When a person is in their 80s, wouldn’t you say it is safe to assume that every birthday is a milestone? My dad, Harmon Drexil “Joe” Beeland, hits his 85th milestone this coming Sunday.

Mrs. Agnes T. Miley

Mrs. Mary Agnes Thomas Miley, age 93, a resident of Pulaski passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.  Visitation was held from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.  Services were held at 2 p.m.

Service Project

Forest High School’s Technology Student Association recently held a community service project. They held a soap drive in December. The service project collections were donated to Carlisle Crisis Center in Forest.


Vernon Robinson

Funeral services for Mr. Vernon Robinson were conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joey Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Antioch-Steele Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.


Reggie Kenneth Hunter, Sr.

Reggie Kenneth Hunter, Sr., 75, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at his home in Brandon, MS. surrounded by his family.  Visitation was Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.  Funeral Services were at 2:00 p.m.


First Buck

Twelve-year-old Weston Adcox shot his first buck, a seven point weighing in at 180 lbs. He was hunting in the Homewood Community on January 4 when this buck entered his sights. Weston is the son of Wesley and Tammy Adcox.



Ruby Doris Delcomyn

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Doris Delcomyn were conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 from the Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Holmes officiating. Interment followed in the Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.


Eagle Scout

Asa Barnes was awarded his Eagle Scout Badge on November 26, 2017 at Forest Baptist Church. Barnes’ service project was to rebuild the back fence of the playground area at the church. He earned his Eagle Scout rank in August of 2017.
