Community Prepares for Graduation Exercises

Our community is saddened by the death of Mrs. Jackie Lyles Denham who transitioned Friday, May 7th at the University Medical Center in Jackson. Mrs. Denham was a graduate of Forest High School and attended Hinds Junior College and Chicago Medical Institute.  She worked in several local businesses including Six Cees Superette and Sara Lee.


Local Girl Scout Unit Celebrates Scouting with Mother/Daughter Tea

Our community is saddened by the death of Mr. William Gray who transitioned Monday, April 29th at the MS Baptist Medical Center. His Home Going Celebration was held Saturday, May 4th at his home church of Lynch Chapel. Pastor Rev. Shirley Wilder officiated and delivered the eulogy. Her remarks focused on the question, “Are you ready?” Rev.



Legacy honors four local humanitarians with memorial scholarships

Our prayers are with the family of the late Mr. Anderson Robinson, World War II veteran, King Lumber employee and more recently, a friendly Walmart greeter.  Mr. Robinson was a walking history book and shared his treasures with Legacy’s historical program. He transitioned April 24th.


Excel Honors Volunteers during Annual Appreciation Banquet

Our prayers are with the family of the late Mrs. Johnnie Louise Moffett Lamb who transpired Wednesday at the University Medical Center in Jackson.  Mrs. Lamb and her husband, Carl, resided in the W. L. Slaughter Subdivision.  Memorial services are scheduled for Thursday, April 18th at Mt Nebo M. B. Church in Raleigh, MS at 11:00 a.m.




Legal Seminar on Environmental and Housing Issues at Public Library

We are sorry to learn of the death of Mr. George “Sonny” Parker who transitioned Friday at his home in Mobile. Our prayers are with his family especially his wife and sisters, Mesdames Rita Parker Johnson and Beatrice Washington.   Memorial arrangements are incomplete.  Please keep his family in your prayers.






Community Celebrates Local Scott County Black History

Our prayers continue to be with the family of Mr. Alonza Redeemer, Jr. who was memorialized Saturday, February 9th at Mt Carmel M. B. Church where Rev. Willie Jones delivered his eulogy.  Rev.  Curtis Laster, Jr. was the master of ceremony.  Please keep his family, especially his wife, Morton City Clerk Dorothy Redeemer, in your prayers.

Our community is saddened with the death of Mr. Walter Graden Crimm who was memorialized Friday, February 15th at Ephesus Baptist Church.  Family and friends paid loving respect and tribute to him during Family Hour on Thursday and during his homegoing celebration Friday.  Please keep his family in your prayers, especially his wife, Mrs.
