Morton to hold special election for vacant alderman seat

In late August Morton Ward 3 Alderman, Scott Herrod, unexpectedly resigned from his position which left the Ward 3 seat open. Herrod was one year into his second four-year term as Ward 3 Alderman and leaves with three years remaining on his term. The City of Morton will hold a special election on October 16 to fill the vacant seat.




Rebels dominate and move to 6-0

The Scott Central Rebels hosted Sweet Water High School for their homecoming game and while the homecoming queen was announced during the game the Rebels were kings of the football field. The Rebels dominated the visiting Bulldogs from Alabama from beginning to end on their way to a 32-6 victory which moved them to 6-0 on the season.





Three being held in connection to Johnson murder

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department has three suspects in custody in connection to the Latasha Johnson murder investigation. “We currently have three individuals in custody and all three individuals are charged with felony accessory after the fact in connection with Mrs. Johnson’s murder,” Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said.
