August 10

Forest Youth Sports Association is holding open registration for 2018 soccer until August 10. Forms can be picked up at the Gaddis Park office building on weekdays.

The fee is $75. Checks should be made payable to Forest Youth Sports. A certified copy of birth certificate is required.The program is open to any child who will turn three on or before Sept. 1 and is not of age 13 on or before the same date.

Registration forms are to be returned to City of Forest Parks and Recreation office at Gaddis Park or may be mailed to 835 Park Rd., Forest, MS 39074/Att: Renea Hurdle.

 

August 11

A Hamburger Plate Fundraiser will be held at the Excel Learning Center in Morton on Thursday, August 16, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.  Hamburger sandwiches with all the trimmings, chips, baked beans, cookie, and a beverage will be provided for $6.  Tickets will be pre-sold as well as sold on August 16.  You are welcome to eat in or take your lunch with you.  Proceeds of this fundraiser help support Excel’s programs.

 

August 11

Mississippi Blood Services will be holding a community blood drive in Forest, Saturday, August 11, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The MBS Donor Coach will be at Vowell’s Marketplace. Donors will receive a T-shirt and a gift card (while supplies last).  All donors will be registered in the MBS Save Our Summer $1,000 Giveaway for a chance to win $1,000!

August 12

Home Coming at Lorena Baptist Church, 409 SCR 35-18, Lorena, MS. August 12, starts at 10:30 a.m. Singing, reading of the history of the church. Guest speaker is Br. David Goree. Pot Luck Lunch. No afternoon service.

 

August 12

High Hill Baptist Church, New Sanctuary Dedication Service, Sunday, August 12. Service time 10:30 a.m. to noon. Former pastor Rev. Bobby Waggoner will bring the dedication message. Covered dish meal at noon. Singing by the Wells Brothers of Noxapater, MS at 1:00 p.m.

 

August 12

The Concord Missionary Baptist Church will host a Youth Day Celebration program, Sunday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m. The theme will be: “A Generation Worth Saving… a God of a Second Chance”: Psalms 85. The speaker for this occasion will be Rev. William Flowers pastor of True Light Baptist Church in Chunky, Mississippi.

 

August 19

Mt. Hebron Primitive Baptist Church, 6702 Old Jackson Rd., Forest, Annual Usher Day Program will be held on Sunday, August 19 at 2:00 p.m. Theme: Doorkeepers of Faith. Guest Speaker Pastor Darren Ownes, Lone Pine M.B. Church, Pelahatchie. Elder Floyd C. McConnell, pastor.
