Quick Bites is a program offered through the Mississippi State University Extension Service that provides timely information on a wide variety of topics to citizens across the state through interactive video. These programs are held during lunch (from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m.) on Thursdays at the Scott County Extension office, 230 South Davis Street, Forest.  So, bring your lunch and join us for a Quick Bite. There is no fee for these classes, but pre-registration is required.  For more information or to register, please call the Extension office at 601-469-4241. December 6:  “Holidays: Past, Present, Future” will be presented by Lynette McDougald, Instructor, Plant and Soil Sciences at Mississippi State University.  Join Lynette McDougald, AIFD, and CFD as she blends nostalgia, fad, and freshest flowers along with varied techniques to help you plan for your best holiday decorating.

East Central Community College in Decatur will close all offices for the Christmas holidays beginning Wednesday, Dec. 12. Offices will reopen Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.

Orientation for new students for the spring 2019 semester will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Vickers Fine Arts Center auditorium.

Jackson State University Scott County Alumni Chapter Annual Christmas Social is December 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Forest Service Center. Maxine Gilmore, president 601-507-6411.

Parkway Baptist Church, Highway 13 South in Morton will be having their Christmas Cantata on December 16 at 10:30 AM. Lunch will follow program.

A gospel country singing will be held at 6:00 p.m. every 3rd Friday at Nolan Sistrunk Pavilion in Sebastopol. For more information call Brenda Fairchild at 601-214-6168. Singers are Almost Home with Leon Stewart, Ted Alexander, Kenneth Graham, Parker Family and Karen Wooten.

Canned Food for Christmas food drive is currently going on in Scott County. Drop off locations are Forest Baptist Church, Forest United Methodist Church, Bank of Forest, Commnity Bank, and City Hall. All donations will be given to the Carlisle Crisis Center Food Bank.
