November 7

Scott County MSU Extension will host a Scholarship Application Program for anyone interested. The program will be held on November 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the Scott County Extension office. The topics to be discussed are finding scholarship opportunities, how to apply for scholarships, creating scholarships, and what to look for in scholarship essays. If you would like to attend please call the Scott County Extension office to pre-register by Monday, November 4.

November 7

“The Harvest” will be presented by Lynette McDougald, Instructor, Plant and Soil Sciences at Mississippi State University.  The Harvest season is here, and we will talk about incorporating fresh flowers with produce, dried, and natural materials.  These “trans-seasonal” designs will take us right into the winter holiday season.

For your convenience, these programs are held during lunch (from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m.) on Thursdays at the Scott County Extension office, 230 South Davis Street, Forest.  So bring your lunch and join us for a Quick Bite. November 14

Creative Christmas - Mississippi State University Extension, Scott County, Scott County Homemaker Volunteers and Forest Community Arts will sponsor Creative Christmas on Thursday, November 14, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Forest National Guard Armory. There will be an admission fee of $1.

Make plans to attend this holiday event, which will feature arts, crafts, and baked goods by local artisans as well as a variety of other items available for purchase. Forest Community Arts will sponsor “Creating Mosaic Art" presented by Susan Farris.  Please bring a donation of non-perishable food for the Scott County Crisis Center. Bettye Mae Jack will be hosting Veterans Day on November 14th at 9:00 a.m. Lt. Col. Anthony (Tony) W. Morgan the Commander of the 204th Air Defense Artillery Regiment will be the guest speaker. All area veterans are invited.

November 15

A gospel country singing will be held at 6:00 p.m. every third Friday at Nolan Sistrunk Pavilion in Sebastopol. Bring finger food for supper. For more information call Shirley Boxx at 601-564-1970.

Crissie Williamson Memorial Medical Mission at Forest Baptist Church. A free medical clinic for uninsured residents of Scott County. Residence and income verification required. October 19, 11:30-1:30.

November 16

The East MS Greys Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp will host a Headstone Dedication Service for Sgt William Harrison Wilkerson who served with the 53rd Alabama Regiment, CSA.  This will be at Mt Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Smith Co. For further info contact Bruce Warren 601-668-1276.

Scott Regional Hospital will host an in-service on Diabetic Foot Care on Wednesday, November 20th, at 2:30 p.m., in the Scott Regional Hospital Cafeteria. The public is invited to attend this free educational event which includes lots of information, refreshments, and door prizes.

The speaker will be Karen Bell, Physician & Community Liaison for Scott Regional’s Wound Care. November is National Diabetes Month.  Learn about proper footwear, Neuropathy, and how to properly care for your feet.
