The Labor Day weekend brought enjoyable outings for some Forest residents. Judge Tom and Norma Ruth Lee joined her brother Mike and Patty Robbins at Old Waverly for a couple of days in celebration of Mike’s birthday.
Lamar Gatewood has been in ICU and from there has gone to “step down.” We are optimistically hoping that he way be released from Baptist Hospital before this column comes out in print. Presently the primary concerns have been breathing and heart issues, complicated by septsis. At last report they were trying to decide whether or not to continue chemo, as cancer hasn’t yet responded. He has been given blood transfusions to help his low RBC count. His breathing is a bit better. Decisions have to be made so the family asks for prayers.
Dianne Rushing Walker’s 90 year old mother, Selma Rushing, and her brother, Cecil, celebrated his 101st birthday last week. Happy Birthday!!
Louisiana resident John Windham enjoyed ‘going back to his roots’ during his recent time in Forest. Last week he gave a thumbs up to the Foothills Restaurant, one of the places on his list to try.
Judge Tom and Norma Ruth Lee attended the Madison Central vs Brandon football game where their granddaughter Mollie Lee was a dancer with the talented Madison Central Dance Team. They were especially pleased to visit with Forest native Michael Gibson and his wife Gina, who were there to see their son Joel, who plays in the tremendous Madison Central band.
Our thoughts are with Linda Risher, who has been in St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson for some lengthy procedures, linked to her recent stroke. No update was available when this column went to print. Linda is asking for continued prayers.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Asher Mitchell, who just learned both passed the Iowa Bar Association exam! Asher is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Joe (Mitch) Mitchell and grandson of Rhett Mitchell of Biloxi.
James and Carol Palmer Threadgill had a wonderful trip to Aspen, celebrating the 98th birthday of James’ father, Bill (William) Threadgill. Also joining the festivities was son, Charlie Threadgill, who is presently living in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Tommy and Gail Lee were in Rosemary Beach, Florida last week and enjoyed spending time there with son Jon Dray, his wife Nikki and grandson Beckham.
After a lot of thought, organizers have decided that it is best to cancel this year’s Nabs and Coke Party. Forest has welcomed and supported the gathering for 10 years. Organizers want to be supportive of both individual and collective efforts to be safe.
