Congratulations to The Pride of Forest Marching Band for their All Superior ratings last week at West Lauderdale High School in Collierville. The students earned superior ratings in Band, Color Guard, and Percussion, in addition to Best in Class and overall Grand Champion awards.
Forest Rotarians enjoyed a very interesting meeting last Wednesday when Coach Orr, the newly selected Athletic Director for Forest High School, presented the program. Rotarian Jean Cox was program chairman.
Great Reunion weekend for Class of 1961, and the joint reunion of 1970 and 1971. Hope you’ll send in reports for our readers!
Please keep Joe Pace in your thoughts this week, as they feel he will be ready for gallbladder surgery on Friday, October 8.
So sorry to hear that John Stringer is suffering with shingles. Not fun!!! Get well soon, John!
Gayla Steed of Olive Branch came to Jackson on Monday and was able to bring her dad, Lamar Gatewood, home from Mississippi Baptist Hospital. Gayla stayed in Forest for several days with her folks before returning to her family in North Mississippi
We’ve enjoyed seeing the posts and pictures of former Forest residents Tom and Margaret Burns, now of Fletcher, NC, who have recently been on a wonderful trip to the Northeast. Among places visited were Boston, Martha's Vineyard as well as Providence, Rhode Island. Still miss you guys!!!
Sad news to report, shared by Bill Hawkins. His brother, DP, died last week.
“DP fell and struck his head Sunday a week ago in Taylor, near Oxford. He was air lifted to Memphis where he remained in a coma and on a ventilator until today. He developed a blood clot on his liver that was inoperable and unsurviveable. He passed away last Tuesday afternoon.” (Arrangements were still pending when this column was turned in.
Condolences to DP’s family and many friends.
Have you had your booster yet? Hopefully you’ve been vaccinated, but you’ll want to get the booster, if you’re eligible.
