Count our blessings!
If you are tired of our constant rain, what if you lived in one of these areas? “Twelve states and thousands of firefighters are battling wildfires, in a scorching heat wave, that has led to a dangerous ignition rate in some areas. California, Arizona, Idaho and Montana are some of the worst hit, but fires are blazing as far as Alaska. More than 850,000 acres have already burned; houses, belongings — and most tragically — lives have been lost! Please join me in praying for these fires to be brought under control. Lift tens of thousands of people up, who are impacted by this fire crisis. Pray for the firefighters on the front lines, that God would protect these brave men and women.” (Franklin Graham). I have two nephews and their wives who live in Idaho. Their temperature has registered as high as 110 degrees! Many of the homes do not have AC either, as they typically are not needed.
If you find yourself far from God, remember: He isn’t the one who moved!
Picture this. Electric car charging stations are popping up all around the country. Here’s an interesting fact. A 350KW generator uses 12 gallons of diesel fuel per hour and it takes 3 hours to fully charge a car to get to 200 miles. That’s 36 gallons for 200 miles, 5.6 mpg. That is certainly proof that you can’t fix stupid! (I drive a Toyota Prius that uses batteries/gas. They are not batteries that have to plugged in. I get average of 47 MPG). What if you have an electric car and while you are on the interstate you run out of power. Do you get a bucket to get your power? Not hardly - no way!!
The Delta Variant virus has raised its ugly head. Our state shows the smallest number of vaccinations, in the USA. The variant is showing to be more prevalent with young people than the first go round. We all know none of the vaccine is 100% effective, but it does offer some protection. I have been fully vaccinated and have enjoyed not wearing a mask. However, when in crowded places I am wearing one again.
Being a good Samaritan may be just a little too high priced! To jump-start someone’s car, with a newer model car, you may short out some of the sensors in your motor. Several mechanics say never jump-start another car!
Dumb blonde joke: Two females, 1 blonde and 1 redhead have a cattle ranch together. They just lost their bull and needed to buy another one, but only had $500. The redhead tells the blonde that she will go to market and find one. She goes and finds one for $499. Having only $1 left, she went to the Telegraph office and finds it cost $1. per word. She is stumped on how to tell the blonde to come and bring the trailer, with just one word. Finally, she tells the telegrapher to send the word comfortable. The operator asks, “How will she know to come with a trailer with that one word?” The redhead replied, “She’s a blonde, so she reads slow, com for ta bull.”
My granddaughter Stephanie and husband, Alan Roberts and family has just spent a week in Elizabet, Ky. attending the National Series of Youth Travelling baseball tournament. Their son, Harrison and the entire team of the Mississippi Chargers reportedly, has done a terrific job in representing Mississippi. They batted hard and finished 6th out of the 27 teams and 1st in D-3 Division. They were the only team there representing our state. (I love our #10 and his love for this sport.)
We have a “Feature Contributor” in our community. Gyn Guthrie Goodrow. Congratulations to her in the launch of the book Celebrating the Little Things!
Humor Joke: A young boy helped a neighbor out with something, this morning. The neighbor then said to him, “I could marry you.” The boy said, “You do something nice for someone and they threaten to ruin life in return!”
We are not rich by what we possess, but rather what we can do without!
The main reason we should go to church is to worship together with people who love Christ. Worship should be the central focus, not worship the man in the pulpit, but the Christ of whom he speaks. (Hebrews 10:25)
EBC news: Wedding Shower. You are invited to a Wedding Shower given in honor of Anna Edwards and Jason Moore, Sunday, August 1 at 2 PM in the Family Life Center (they are registered at Wal Mart.) Next Sunday is a bittersweet time as we say good-bye to Blake, Kennedy and Carter McCurdy, as they leave us to move to Georgia. Blake will be serving as a Youth Pastor and furthering his education. Kennedy will be teaching and serving as a Children’s Director. We pray that God will always use them for His kingdom and that they will follow His leading.
Prayers needed: Buck Wolf, Betty Ann Martin, Austin Pickering, Regina Rammage and Braiden Walker. Sincere sympathy to the families of James Creel, Keith Jones, Bobby Woods, Geraldine Bagley and Brian Spense in the loss of their loved ones.
Thank you God for your Grace, Mercy, Forgiveness, Protection, Guidance, Friendship, Peace and your unfailing Love for being my Savior. Amen
Have a blessed week and share the joy and blessings with others
