Friends will be interested in knowing that Camp Hollymont for Girls, after 38 years at the same Asheville location is moving their summer operations to the beautiful Rabun Gap, an equal distance from Asheville, North Carolina, Greenville, South Carolina, and Atlanta, Georgia, and only 16 miles from Highlands, North Carolina.  Wait until you see the large beachfront lake, surrounded by mountains!!  All buildings are air conditioned and spacious. We’re excited!! The winter office will remain in Black Mountain and Executive Director is Missy McKibbens Roper of Mountain Brook, Alabama. The newly named Camp Director is longtime camper and staffer, Emily Levy Dixon of Richmond Hill, Georgia. Congratulations, Hollymont!!!

Gene and Diane Walker spent several days last week in Arkansas and attended the Mississippi State University/Arkansas football contest Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville.

Chris Allen Baker attended his 30th class reunion at Winona High School last weekend. This was the fourth official reunion his class has enjoyed, having already marked 15th, 20th, and 25th year anniversary. Congratulations, Chris! We understand that when the Baker family returned home from the celebration, they discovered the recent storm targeting the area had blown over a large tree in their yard. Fortunately, it had missed the house.

Reports came in of other storm damage, as well. Lots of trees were down, especially in the eastern side of Forest, with some readers being without power from 18 to 24 hours. The George Taylor family also had a huge tree down, but fortunately It did not hit the house. The Allen Breland family was not so lucky, as a tree did hit their house! Area clean up is still underway.

Scott Palmer accompanied his mother Jean to Jackson on Saturday night for the wedding of Brittany Threadgill to Cameron Whitehurst. The ceremony took place at First Presbyterian Church with the reception following at the Threadgill home in Ridgeland.
