Iva Dee Bonderant has done it again! Sidney Bonderant received a call from the Discharge Planning Nurse at Baptist Hospital last Wednesday morning. She told him that his mother was still Covid virus positive but was up and walking, eating Ok, had no fever, and is breathing Ok. She cannot go back to The Blake Assisted Living Center until she is virus negative, but they will get her into a swing bed at a partner hospital until she tests negative and then she can go back to her apartment at The Blake. That may take a couple of weeks. It is amazing. Prayer Works!
Rick Cleveland of “Mississippi Today” was in Forest recently to interview with coaches and players on the 1970 Forest High School football team, which won the Little Dixie Conference Championship with an 11-0 record. Rick, who you may also remember as a former Clarion-Ledger sports editor, is helping to publicize the 50th Anniversary of a remarkable season.
Social distanced interviews were held recently in the private dining room at Penn’s Fish House, where the group also enjoyed a most delicious lunch. Head Coach Gary Risher, currently in remission with his cancer battle, was interviewed by Rick outside, for obvious reasons. A special program to honor the team is scheduled Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, at Forest High School on Atkins Field. Cheerleaders and members of the 1970-71 All-Superior FHS Band are also invited to participate in the halftime ceremony. This is also the 50th Anniversary year of the 1970 graduating class of Forest High School.
