Today our special thoughts are with former long time Forest resident Lyllian Lee McMullen, who is having surgery early this morning, November 7. Our prayers are with her, as well as with Mart, and all the family.
Joining Irene Martin for supper last Friday night were Russell and Mary Martin, returning from Gatlinburg, Tennessee, to celebrate their first year wedding anniversary. Other guests were Steve, Karon and Tara Martin, Zach Whittington, Elijah and Justus Harvey.
Rhett Mitchell just returned to Biloxi from being with his granddaughter, Haley Mitchell, in Tallahassee, Florida, where she is a senior at Florida State University. Haley is the daughter of Stan and Kellie Mitchell, who are now living in Bangkok, Thailand.
Dr. Jimmy and Sharon Hollingsworth recently returned from a ten day trip to Hawaii, where Jimmy attended the annual meeting of the American Dental Association. Jimmy serves as a delegate from the Mississippi Dental Association. The meeting was held in Honolulu. Following the meeting, they flew to the island of Kauai for a few days of relaxing and sightseeing.
Bill and Karen Blossom have returned from an enjoyable October visit in the Connecticut home of their daughter, Becky.
Visiting this week in the home of her parents, Lamar and Barbara Gatewood, were Shane and Gayla Gatewood Steed of Olive Branch.
Saturday afternoon guests of Irene were Robbie Putnam, Harperville, John and Pat Solomon, Wiggins and Edward Fortune, Byram.
Last weekend, Rhett Mitchell joined his cousins, Maybelle Beasley of Jackson and Sandra Walker of Brandon, in Forest for lunch.
Returning to Forest for an overnight stay again this week, were Ben and Loren McKibbens of Point Clear, Alabama, following cousins gathering for a farewell to their eldest ‘Ormond’ cousin, Robert Fletcher “Bob” Ormond. Cousins present at the early afternoon service included Courtland and Pat Gray of Navarre Beach, Florida, Woods and Lynn Eastland of Indianola, Jimbo and Hiram Eastland of Ruleville/Linn/Doddsville, and Sue Eastland McRoberts of Jackson. The group enjoyed reminiscing about Forest, and where their parents or other close relatives lived years ago. The cousins also shared memories of their fun times together in a city close to their hearts. (Ironically, Jackson resident, Sue McRoberts’ next door neighbor is another former Forest resident, James Murray Underwood. Small world!!)
Sympathy is extended to the family of Gay Neal. She had several health problems and passed away Wednesday.
Congratulations to these Forest young people who were inducted into Theta Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at East Central Community College. Recent honorees to this international society included Richard Kienle, Garet Jones, William Chambers and Jonathan Collins.
If you have items to share for the Forest Column, please email them to email@example.com. We want to hear from you!!
