The 2019 Scott County Basketball Tournament is in the record books and this year’s tournament was dominated by the Forest High School Bearcats. Both the boys and girls teams played some great basketball on the hardwood at Lake High School last week and came away as Scott County basketball champions.

The Bearcats boys basketball team needed three victories to claim the championship. Forest’s first game of the tournament was against the Morton Panthers and the Bearcats dominated the game and took the win by a score of 52-38. In round two the Bearcats faced the Sebastopol Bobcats and again Forest ruled the floor inside Lake High School gym by taming the Bobcats with a final score of 62-46. In the championship game the Bearcats faced the Scott Central Rebels. The Bearcats jumped out to and early lead and maintained the advantage throughout the championship game ultimately getting the win by a score of 56-41. With the three tournament wins the Bearcats improved to 7-8 on the year.

The Lady Bearcats came into the tournament as heavy favorites and they did not disappoint. The Lady Cats won both of their tournament games by at least 25 points on their way to the championship. In game one FHS faced the Scott Central Lady Rebels and the Lady Cats got off to a hot start and never looked back. They would go on to take the win 55-30 and advanced to the championship game to face the Sebastopol Lady Bobcats. In the championship game the Lady Bobcats played hard and gave a gallant effort but the Forest ladies were just to much as they jumped out to large lead and extended that lead throughout the game. The Lady Cats would win the championship game by the final score of 75-30. The FHS girls ran their record to 16-3 on the season and are ready for the home stretch of the basketball season.
