The mentors at Bound to Excel Mentoring took 100 local youths to the Ole Miss football game in Oxford on September 22.

The Morton Homemaker Volunteers held a dedication ceremony on October 3 to unveil new MHV signs at the entrances of Morton. The ceremony was held just off Highway 13 at the entrance to the city.

The Morton Panthers gave the homecoming crowd a good showing and a victory to cap off homecoming week festivities this past Friday night.

Morton Elementary School students joined in the homecoming week fun by dressing up for “Nerd Day.” From the left Nyanna Kincaid, Amareya Sims and Caleigh Slaughter put their school spirit on full display.

 

Morton High School announced its 2018 Homecoming Queen and Football Queen during the football game against Choctaw Central last Friday night.

Scott County MHV Members recently participated in the Fall MHV Capital Area meeting held in Copiah County.


County schools’ energy savings renovations are 87 percent complete

Scott County School District started making renovations to improve building energy efficency during the first week of June last year. After seven months of renovations included in the $4.17 million energy savings performance contract (ESPC), Johnson  Control has completed 87 percent of the projects.

When a person is in their 80s, wouldn’t you say it is safe to assume that every birthday is a milestone? My dad, Harmon Drexil “Joe” Beeland, hits his 85th milestone this coming Sunday. 




Mrs. Agnes T. Miley

Mrs. Mary Agnes Thomas Miley, age 93, a resident of Pulaski passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.  Visitation was held from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.  Services were held at 2 p.m.



MaeDean Goolsby

MaeDean Goolsby, age 54 a resident of Forest died Sunday January 7, 2018 at the Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest following an extended illness.

Kim Miles peacefully entered into Heaven on January 08, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Visitation was held on Wednesday January 10, 2018 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS. Funeral Services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday January 11, 2018 in the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Lake, MS with Bro.
