PAID POLITICAL ANNOUNCEMENT
After much prayerful consideration I, Lynn Atkison, would like to announce my candidacy for the position of Ward Two Alderwoman in the City of Forest for the special election to be held on August 17, 2021, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the American Legion. I am married to Allan Atkison, of Forest.
Allan is the recently retired principal of Forest High School where he retired with 30 years of service to the City of Forest and public school education. We are proud parents of three daughters: Brooke Hendershot, married to David Hendershot, both educators, residing in Madison, MS; Kelly Atkison, an Educational Psychology major with a Speech Pathology emphasis dually enrolled at Mississippi State University and the University for Women; and Abby Atkison, an Elementary Education major at Mississippi State University. Our family attends and is actively involved at Forest Baptist Church.
I am a Forest native, daughter of Rita and Van Jones, and a 1989 Forest High School graduate. I completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Science Degree in School Counseling at Mississippi State University. I have served the Forest Municipal School District for the past 28 years – three years as a teacher at Hawkins Middle School and the last 25 years as the school counselor at Forest Elementary School. I am a member of Forest Baptist Church where I teach Sunday School. I am also a past president and lifetime member of the Junior Auxiliary of Scott County.
I am seeking the position of Ward Two Alderwoman, because I have a vested interest in this community and would like to serve the community in which I was reared. I am proud of Forest and would like to ensure the city’s tradition of excellence for years to come.
I will be honest, fair, and available to the citizens of Forest. Please go to the American Legion on August 17, 2021, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and vote for Lynn Atkison for the office of Alderwoman, Ward Two, in the City of Forest.
