The Morton High School 2020-2021 soccer team set a new standard for Soccer Panthers this year. For 2021 seniors this is a goal they have worked for since beginning to play the sport.
Three of the four seniors of the class were on the first MHS soccer team that began during their 7th grade year. They have played soccer under multiple coaches, with each helping to develop the team better each year.
This year under the direction of Coach Daniel Lott and assistant coach Jordan Wiegert the Panthers made history. The 2021 seniors, Artavious Green, Edgar Chavez, Adrian Torrez, and Bryan Lopez, can proudly say they took their team to the playoffs. This is the first time the Panther soccer team has made it this far in the season.
Although, the Panthers did not advance to Round 2 of playoffs, these young men have accomplished so much in this season. It has not been as easy road the Panthers. They have played in freezing temperatures, including snow flurries, raining weather, and having to run and kick a ball through water puddles.
The Panthers have had to fight against quarantines, weather delays, game reschedules and more for the opportunity to be the first MHS soccer team to make playoffs. For the 2022 seniors coming up, Cesar Camarillo, George Ibarra, Sergio Ramos, and Devin Lucas, the bar has been set high. They too will have to work hard and struggle through to lead the next team of MHS Soccer players to great things yet to come.
Parents, friends, school faculty and community members can be proud of these young men for their hard work, sportsmanship, and team efforts while representing Morton through the soccer program. We are thankful for coaches and administration who strongly support this sport and our children so well.
We congratulate the Morton Soccer team for their achievements this year. These young men are Panther Strong and make the hearts of their community swell with Panther Pride.
