Announcements: EXCEL Learning Center, 383 South fourth Street, will offer a CPR/AED Heartsaver Class on Saturday, February 2 at 9 a.m.-12 noon. Designed for persons planning to become certified in CPR or renewing their CPR certification. Sister Pat Clemen RN, BSN will be the instructor and the fee for the class is $35 due by January 25th.

I would never have imagined that after an unexpected course change in my life, I would move on to finally realize of deep seeded dream to put my words to paper for publication, and to start a weekly editorial column that has been a true blessing.




Scott County’s Heather Ferrell wins Farm Bureau’s Discussion Meet

During the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation Annual Convention held November 30- December 2 in Jackson, Scott County’s Heather Ferrell won the discussion meet competition sponsored by the organization’s Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R) program. Ferrell will compete at the American Farm Bureau Federation convention in January





MLK Walk set for Monday

On Monday, Scott County will join in with Americans across the nation who will pause for the day to remember the life and contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Government offices, schools and banks will be among the entities closed in honor of the civil rights leader.

Second Annual Toy Drive underway

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
