Morton’s Meeks inducted to MS Wildlife Hall of Fame

Morton native Paul Meeks has been making nationally renowned turkey calls for more than 40 years, and last Friday night he was inducted into the Mississippi Wildlife Heritage Foundation Hall of Fame. The master turkey hunter was recognized and honored for his contributions to the Mississippi wildlife community over the last four decades.

Watkins selected

Sebastopol High School Lady Bobcats senior Taylor Watkins was chosen as a member of the MS Class 1A, 2A and 3A allstar softball team. The allstar weekend was held on May 31 - June 2 on campus of Jones Junior College in Ellisville.

Mississippi Bar honors Slaughter-Harvey for her lifetime of service

The Mississippi Bar presented Constance Slaughter-Harvey of Forest with its Lifetime Achievement Award during their 2018 Annual Meeting. The Bar presents the Lifetime Achievement Award to those individuals who have devoted service to the public, profession and the administration of justice over the span of a professional career. 



Three being held in connection to Johnson murder

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department has three suspects in custody in connection to the Latasha Johnson murder investigation. “We currently have three individuals in custody and all three individuals are charged with felony accessory after the fact in connection with Mrs. Johnson’s murder,” Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said.

Teacher of the Year

Second Annual Toy Drive underway

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
