Sarah Jeanette Mills, 82 passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at her residence. Services were at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest with burial in Hillsboro Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Ricky Gray and Rev. Phillip Roland officiated.

Ellis graduates from MSMS

The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science (MSMS) would like to congratulate the Class of 2018 on their upcoming graduation. Specifically, they would like to honor Margarete Gabie Ellis. Ellis, formerly of Forest High School, is the daughter of LeaAnn and Wesley Ellis.





Arrest Report May 30

The following individuals were entered into the docket at the Scott County Detention Center May 17 – May 23. All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Second Annual Toy Drive underway

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.

Teacher of the Year

Forest School District Teachers of the year awards from left are Lindsay White Middle School English teacher, Robin Sistruck was also recognized for being district teacher of the year for the elementary school, and Katherine Grisham who received the award for the High School




Jail escapee captured

State inmate Gregory Trigg, who escaped from the Scott County Jail last weekend, has been captured and is back in prison.

Trigg, #R4245, was found in a motel in Hazlehurst and arrested without incident by local authorities. He was caught at 11:30 p.m. Monday at the motel. His identity was confirmed later.
