Funeral services for Bro. Marvis Leon Everett were conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Robinson and the Rev. Harold Laird officiating. Military honors were presented under the direction of the US Army Honor Guard.

Mr. Jerry Hines, age 68 and a resident of Forest passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson after a brief illness.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
On Sunday, November 26, 2017, at approximately 1:15 p.m., La Bendicion convenience store was robbed by two individuals with handguns.

Residents in the vicinity of North Homewood Road and Highway 501 in Forest are having an odorous experience due to a bad bouquet on the breezes blowing their way. Waste Management Clearview Landfill, located about five miles away on Mudline Road in Lake, is apparently having some challenges in putting a lid on this pungency.

You see, or hear, all sorts of warnings around this time of year. Things like don’t plug extension cords into space heaters or vice versa. Same with overloading circuits with Christmas tree lights and outside decorations and the like. Fire hazard they say.
Al Bergin lives a mile from the Clearview landfill in south Scott County and says there are times he can’t even leave his house. “On some days going outside is not an option because of the heavy cloud of odor that fills the air,” Bergin said.
Dr. Deepthi Mundra bought Metro Dental located at 1237 Highway 35 South in Forest in June from Dr. Jim Polles. In 2015, Dr. Polles had advertised for an associate and Dr. Mundra got the job. In 2017, Dr. Polles decided to sell Metro Dental and he asked Dr. Mundra if she wanted to buy it.
