Sarah Jeanette Mills, 82 passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at her residence. Services were at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest with burial in Hillsboro Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Ricky Gray and Rev. Phillip Roland officiated.

Edwin Doyle Brantley

Edwin Doyle Brantley, known to all as Doyle, ended his lifelong journey on May 23, 2018. He was a member of the greatest generation, upon whose watch our Country grew into the greatest nation the world has known.  Doyle grew up in Madden, Mississippi along with eight brothers and sisters.  His parents were Dr. Frank and Mrs.

gymnast complete competition season

Miller Gymnastics in Newton completed their 2017-2018 competition season. The competition team won numerous titles at the team level and in individual events including Level 2 overall state champion Reese Thoms. Scott County resident Ava White competed with the teams Level 2 gymnast who are pictured here with their trophies and medals.





Midway News

Memorial Day Celebration begins at 4:00 p.m.

Memorial Day Celebration will be at Midway Park, 6835 Midway Odom Road. There will be games, activities for the children and food.  Activities will start at 4:00 p.m.  A fireworks display will close out the day’s activities.

Second Annual Toy Drive underway

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.

The Circuit Court of Scott County, Mississippi cases for trial under the Honorable Judge Collins. The following cases be set for trial and/or disposition in the February, 2018, term of Circuit Court of Scott County, Mississippi, as follow:

Crystal K. Watford, 34, 51 Young Hill Dr, Monticello, improper equipment, drug possession- methamphetamine, no driver’s license.






Forestry Banquet Oct. 26

The Scott County Forestry Association Banquet will be held Thursday, October 26 at Roosevelt State Park Lodge.  Registration will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the meal and program beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Please call the Scott County Extension Office at 601-469-4241 by October 16 to register for the banquet.
