Bobcats suffer district loss, still have chance at playoffs

The Sebastopol Bobcats faced the Vardaman Rams last Friday night in a district game. The Bobcats entered the game coming off a big win against the Hamilton Lions and looking to make it two wins in a row. On the road Sebastopol couldn’t get anything going on offense and was unable to get on the scoreboard through four quarters.


Lake upsets E. Union moves on

The Lake Hornets enetered the 2018 2A football playoffs with a tough draw that matched them against Region 1 No.1 seed East Union. The Hornets had to travel to Blue Springs to take on the homestanding and higher seeded Urchins, but after the game started you would have never known that East Union was the higher seed by the play on the field.

ECCC Warrior Football lands three players on All-State, All-Region Teams

East Central Community College freshman defensive back Keonte’ Daniels has been named to both the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges First Team All-State South Offense and the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 23 First Team Offense for his play during the recently completed 2017 season.



Sheriff’s Toy Drive

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department 2nd Annual Toy Drive is right on track and happening right now. They have a large drop off box in their lobby and it is open to the public 24 hours a day. There is also a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.

Marines march across Mississippi

On October 16 two Marines, Gabriel Vasquez and Jason Bailess, embarked on a 155 mile “Ruck” across Mississippi, trekking from the Alabama state line to the Mississippi River, in only five days, to raise awareness and support in the battle against Veteran Suicide and Veteran Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD
