What's wrong with Forest?

Dear Editor:

Well, the sad, undeniable truth is — Forest is dying!  So, now, the more important question becomes — Why is Forest dying? The answers to why Forest is dying may be a little too much for just one ‘letter to the editor’, but we can start with the #1 cause that Forest is dying — Forest is a Sanctuary City.

Watch Night is December 31

 

Union Grove/Sylvester United Methodist Church held its Annual Christmas Program/Cantata on December 16 at 5:00 p.m. at Union Grove United Methodist Church.  The kids did an excellent job from reciting bible verses to explanations about our holidays, singing and praise dancing. 



Verda Mae White

Jackson — Mrs. Verda Mae White, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2017. Visitation was on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and one hour prior to the Noon funeral service on Monday, June 26. Interment was at at 3 p.m.

Eugene Odom

Victor Eugene Odom, age 63 a resident of  the Pea Ridge community near Forest, died Monday January 8, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gomillion, Ray’s Radiator & Machine Shop of Forest recently won a trip to Washington, D.C. for being one of the top Exmark dealers in a six-state region. R.W. Distributors, Inc., the Exmark Distributor, awarded this trip for outstanding sales of Exmark mowers.


Kimberly Suzanne Giles Miles

Kim Miles peacefully entered into Heaven on January 08, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Visitation was held on Wednesday January 10, 2018 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS. Funeral Services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday January 11, 2018 in the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Lake, MS with Bro.

Second Annual Toy Drive underway

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
