Three being held in connection to Johnson murder

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department has three suspects in custody in connection to the Latasha Johnson murder investigation. “We currently have three individuals in custody and all three individuals are charged with felony accessory after the fact in connection with Mrs. Johnson’s murder,” Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said.


Jennings rushes for 258 yards carrying Morton to first win of young season

Morton workhorse running back Von Jennings was determined his team would not leave Raymond without a victory this past Friday night. He would rush for 258 yards on 18 carries and scored three touchdowns. Jennings not only carried the football, he put his teammates on his shoulders and carried them to their first victory of the 2018 season.

Mary Voncile Tadlock Higbie, 91, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her family. A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2018 at Homewood Methodist Cemetery. Her brother, Bobby Paul Tadlock officiated.

Services were held Wednesday August 22, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Ephesus Baptist Church in Forest, MS.


Prep overpowers visiting Bearcats 45-7

This past Friday night Forest traveled to Flowood to take on a stout Jackson Prep team that’s on a 20-game win streak. The Bearcats knew that beating the 6-time defending MAIS AAAA state champion Patriots on their home field would be a tall order, but the Cats had a good week of preparation and came into the game focused and ready to play.


Colonel Bert Gilmore

Services for Colonel Bert Gilmore were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Sebastopol Baptist Church. Burial with military honors was in the Sebastopol City Cemetery. Dr. David Rives and Rev. J. Clark officiated.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Bertha Robinson, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Marie and Al Clous, and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joann and Dick Scott.

Second Annual Toy Drive underway

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
