Both the boys and girls teams played some great basketball on the hardwood at Lake High School last week and came away as Scott County basketball champions.

Richard Bobbitt, Jr., 35, 1341 E 4th St, Forest MS, Indicted-Indicted.
State Senator Terry C. Burton of Newton was arrested and charged with DUI Second Offense in Oktibbeha County after a single car accident that left the senator uninjured. The accident happened about 9:12 p.m. December 19 on Highway 82 West in Starkville.
On January 5 just before noon, the Scott County Sheriff’s Department and Mississippi Highway Patrol were dispatched to a two-vehicle head-on collision that occurred three miles north of Forest on Highway 35. The accident resulted in the death of a Hillsboro man that was driving one of the vehicles.
December 2018 was one of the top 3 wettest months on record in Mississippi and Scott County was no exception. Just as the year was about to a close torrential downpours on December 27 caused widespread street flooding.
Lab results are in on Ricky Hawkins, the driver of the pickup truck that allegedly caused the death of Connie Phillips and her granddaughter, Madi McDill, in a Dec. 29 accident on Highway 35 in front of Walmart in Forest. Based on the lab report warrants have been issued for two counts of DUI Manslaughter.

On Sunday, November 26, 2017, at approximately 1:15 p.m., La Bendicion convenience store was robbed by two individuals with handguns.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
