Three being held in connection to Johnson murder

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department has three suspects in custody in connection to the Latasha Johnson murder investigation. “We currently have three individuals in custody and all three individuals are charged with felony accessory after the fact in connection with Mrs. Johnson’s murder,” Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said.

Arrest Report September 12

The following individuals were entered into the docket at the Scott County Detention Center August 29 – September 5. All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Michael Ledbetter, 39, 3267 Sherman Hill, Lake MS, Drugs-Sale Marijuana.




Morton Native Supports the Navy’s ‘Silent Service’

SANTA RITA, Guam – A 1996 East Rankin Academy graduate and Morton, Mississippi native, is providing a critical maintenance capability to the U.S. Navy’s submarine force in the Pacific as part of a hybrid crew of sailors and civilian mariners working aboard the expeditionary submarine tender, USS Frank Cable.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
