East Central Mississippi Health Care in Sebastopol is a community health center that recently celebrated 40 years of providing care to local area residents. ECMHC of Sebastopol started treating patients in 1978 and has expanded its network of clinics to include locations in Walnut Grove, Philadelphia and Newton.

It’s over. Done Deal. Let’s move on. Brett Kavanaugh is now an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Half of us are happy. Half of us are not. There is absolutely nothing that can be done at this point to change that fact, so let’s move on to other matters that deserve the attention of 100 percent of us and our leaders.

Announcements:  Morton Barter Day Festival will be held at Roosevelt State Park on Saturday, October 13 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.  The activities of the day will include a Fundraiser Cake Walk, a variety of games, arts and crafts and a county- wide garage sale.

Three being held in connection to Johnson murder

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department has three suspects in custody in connection to the Latasha Johnson murder investigation. “We currently have three individuals in custody and all three individuals are charged with felony accessory after the fact in connection with Mrs. Johnson’s murder,” Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said.



Morton falls to Pelahatchie Chiefs

The Morton Panthers made the trip east down highway 80 into Rankin County to face the Pelahatchie Chiefs last Friday night. The Chiefs scored on offense and defense and Morton lost three fumbles on the way to Pelahatchie dominating the Panthers in a 42-14 loss. The loss drops Morton to 1-5 on the season.


Arrest Report September 26

The following individuals were entered into the docket at the Scott County Detention Center September 13 – September 19. All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Second Annual Toy Drive underway

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.

The Circuit Court of Scott County, Mississippi cases for trial under the Honorable Judge Collins. The following cases be set for trial and/or disposition in the February, 2018, term of Circuit Court of Scott County, Mississippi, as follow:
