Happy Valentine’s

February is Black Hisrory Month. Black History Month started as Negro History Week.  This week was chosen because it coincided with the birthday of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. Both of these dates were celebrated by the black communities since the late 19th century.

Shooting claims teen’s life

Last Thursday night law enforcement authorities were dispatched to the scene of a fatal shooting in the city limits of Forest. Tykey Bland, 19, of Harperville has been identified by family members as the victim of the shooting.

Bland was a 2017 graduate of Scott Central Attendance Center.

Arrest Report January 23

The following individuals were entered into the docket at the Scott County Detention Center January 10 – January 16. All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Second Annual Toy Drive underway

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
