Meet the Staff:
TIM BEELAND, editor/publisher
As editor and publisher, Tim is responsible for the overall operation of the newspaper and writes a weekly column. A native of Newton, Miss., he began his newspaper career at the Clarksdale Press Register in Clarksdale, Miss. in 1984. He then served as advertising director for the Greenwood Commonwealth in Greenwood, Miss. before being named editor and publisher, in the late ‘80s, of the weekly Winona Times in Winona, Miss. and the Carrollton Conservative in Carrollton, Miss. In 1996 he started the weekly Rankin Record in Flowood, Miss. and took over the reins of the Scott County Times in 2009. He is a graduate of Mississippi State University and the winner of multiple writing, photography and advertising awards. Tim and his wife, Danny, have one daughter who is a Marketing Specialist in the Mississippi State Treasurer’s office, and they split their time between a family home in Sebastopol, Miss. and their lake house at the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
JAMES PHILLIPS, news editor
As news editor, James is responsible for assembling and producing the editorial content of the newspaper. He attended Forest Elementary and Forest High School and graduated from Brandon High School and Troy University. He is currently a Harperville resident.
Christian Kelly, business development firstname.lastname@example.org
As a business development specialist, Christian is responsible for helping businesses with their advertising needs as well as layout and design of individual advertisements. A Lake resident, he graduated from Newton County Academy and holds an Associate in Arts (Business Administration) from East Central Community College, a Bachelor's in Business Administration (Marketing) from Mississippi State University, and an Associate in Applied Science (Health & Fitness Management) from the Community College of the Air Force.
CHARLENE STINSON, office manager/classifieds/legals/subscriptions
As office manager, Charlene is responsible for accounts payables and receiveables as well as the classifieds, legals and subscriptions. She is a native of Scott County and a graduate of Scott Central High School. She began her newspaper career at The Scott County Times in October 2018. Charlene is currently a Morton resident.
