Bearcats fall to Leake Central 43-20

The Forest Bearcats tough start to the 2019 football season continued last Friday night when they hosted the Leake Central Gators. Forest dropped their fifth straight game, losing to the Gators 43-20.

The Bearcats were led on offense by senior quarterback Dylan Grayson who has been behind center full time since the game against Florence two weeks ago. Grayson completed 10-of-17 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns through the air, but is what not enough to overcome the visitors from Leake Central.

On the ground the Bearcats were led by Devonyal Lofton who had 9 carries for 48 yards, and sophomore Logan Mapp added 20 yards on three carries.

FHS fell behind early and was on the wrong side of a 21-7 score at the end of the first quarter. The Bearcats fought back in the second quarter getting to within 8 points at 28-20 by half time.

The second half was all Gators who shutout the Bearcats over the final two quarters to earn the win.

Forest sophomore wideout Jhatavious Slack had a big game with two catches for 123 yards and a touchdown.

With the loss Forest fells to 0-5 on the season. The Bearcats will attempt to get their first victory when they open district play this Friday night against the Clarkdale (3-3). The Bearcats will host the visiting Bulldogs for homecoming at L.O. Atkins Field. Kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday night. The Bearcats will hold 2019 homecoming activities before, and during, the game.
