It’s Golden Chicken Week in Scott County as the Forest Bearcats travel to Morton Friday night to battle the Panthers in an effort to claim a 13th straight victory for the Cat’s in the inter-county rivalry. Forest also leads the series 51-36-3.
The Bearcats are coming off a tough 34-26 road loss to neighboring Philadelphia last week, but are still 4-3 overall and 2-0 in district play.
The Panthers defeated Southeast Lauderdale on the road last week 49-6 in a big district win. Morton is now 5-2 overall, 2-1 in district play.
Around the county last week, The Sebastopol Bobcats scored 49 points and restricted the host Resurrection Catholic Eagles to 35 in the Bobcats league victory.
The Bobcats now stand at 6-2 overall, 3-2 district and host Stringer for a 1A Region 4 battle on Friday night.
Sebastopol will face a Red Devils squad coming off a 47-30 league win over Leake County. The Red Devils record now stands at 4-3 overall.
The Scott Central Rebels rallied from behind again last week and claimed a victory over the Union Yellow Jackets. The Rebels down 27-6 at the half scored 16 in each of the last two quarters of the game for a 38-33 win.
The Rebels now 6-1, 3-0 in district are off this week and are scheduled to travel across county to Lake on October 29.
The Lake vs. Newton game last Friday was canceled. The Hornets now 3-4 on the season were scheduled to travel to Union Friday night but that game has been canceled also.
