1) What is the circulation of your publication?
Our publication reach in excess of 13,500 people per month. Our newspaper is mailed to subscribers through the U.S. Postal Service and arrives at homes on Wednesday, with the regular mail. We also have 40 single copy dealer locations throughout Scott County..
2) How often do you publish?
The SCOTT COUNTY TIMES is published once a week on Wednesdays.
We also publish a large print glossy telephone directory, THE PHONE BOOK, once a year in the fall.
3) What is the circulation area of your publication?
Our target area is Scott County including the county seat, Forest, and the towns of Morton, Lake and Sebastopol.
As of the 2000 census, our coverage area includes a population of 28,264.
4) How do I submit news to your publications?
We love submitted news. We are a community newspaper. You can mail us at P.O. Box 89, Forest, MS 39074. You can visit our offices at 311 Smith Ave. in Forest just southwest of the county courthouse. You can fax us at (601) 469-2004 or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We actively seek your weddings, engagement party photos, letters to the editor, births, club reports--you name it. First and foremost we are a community newspaper and what we do is local, community news. We do not run national or international wire service stories. We have staff writers who actively seek story ideas from readers.
Remember, priority is given to photos published exclusively in our publications so if that's the case, please be sure to tell us.
5) How do I place an ad in your publications?
Just call one of our advertising sales representatives. Tell us what you want and our talented production staff will design the ad for you in no time. There is never a charge for our expert ad design and composition. For more information, call us at (601) 469-2561.
6) What's the cost of advertising in your publications?
The page sizes of our newspapers are 10.25 inches wide and 16 inches deep. Our rates vary greatly based on contract rates and various frequency discounts. Typically, ads cost less than one penny per reader.
7) How do I subscribe?
If you live in our core distribution area of Scott County, an annual subscription to The Times is just $30 and it includes free access to our eEditions and other online content. Outside the county, subscriptions are $40 a year.
Online-only digital subscriptions are also available at www.sctonline.net.
8) Do your publications include classified ads?
Yes we do and our rates are very reasonable - and under certain circumstances can even be free. Call us at our main number (601) 469-2561 to place an ad.
9) What are you business hours?
We are open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
10) Where are your publications printed?
The pages are designed and composed at our offices in Forest. They are then sent electronically to our printing plant at our sister newspaper, The Enterprise-Journal in McComb.
The McComb press is a combination of color Web Press Quad Stacks and black and white News Kings. We use state-of-the-art computer-to-plate technology using a Basys platesetter and FM screening.
12) What are the politics of your publications?
We are neither liberal nor conservative. We believe in the open exchange of as many ideas as possible. We believe in the marketplace of ideas. We love to get fresh opinions from all sides of the political spectrum - including yours.
