CMRLS Libraries will be closed Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day Holiday. Regular Library hours will resume on Saturday, July 6. All online resources will be available at cmrls.lib.ms.us while your library is closed. Central Mississippi Regional Library System serves the public libraries of Rankin, Scott, Simpson, and Smith Counties.
July 4
Officials from City of Forest, City of Morton and Scott County all reported this week that garbage collection routes and schedules will not change for Independence Day on July 4. All garbage collection routes will remain on regular schedule during the week of July 4.

Quick Bites is a program offered through the Mississippi State University Extension that provides timely information on a wide variety of topics to citizens across the state through interactive video. These programs are held during lunch (from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m.) on Thursdays at the Scott County Extension Service office, 230 South Davis Street, Forest.
July 11: Basic Sewing 101 will be presented by Martha Cannon, Master Seamstress, Calhoun County MHV. Come one, come all, novice, young, or seasoned! Martha will share sewing basics including sewing on a button, replacing a hem, minor repairs, as well as basic items needed for sewing.
July 14
Mt. Moriah MB Church will host their Women’s Day Program on Sunday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. The guest speaker is Dorothy T. Smith, Scott County District Dean of Christian Education.
July 18
Calligraphy classes will be offered at Excel Community and Learning Center at 383 S. 4th Street in Morton beginning on Thursday, July 18. The classes will be held on three Thursdays, July 18, July 25, and August 1, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. The fee is $25. Please register by July 10. For more information call 601-732-1800.

A gospel country singing will be held at 6:00 p.m. every third Friday at Nolan Sistrunk Pavilion in Sebastopol. Bring finger food for supper. For more information call Shirley Boxx at 601-564-1970.

CPR classes are being offered to the community at Excel Community and Learning Center in Morton on Saturday, July 20th from 9-12:00 noon. First Aid will also be offered following at 12:30-3:30.
