Travelin’,visitin’ and such: Bonnie Chestnut Ivy and son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Charlette Ivy surprised their cousins, Mel, Frisky and Brian Roland with a delightful Mothers Day visit. Everyone was clear of COVID-19 and observed distancing rules, but enjoyed the lovely day on the deck with carry out food. Following the visit they visited the grave sites of Bonnie’s parents and sister who are interred in the Sims Cemetery.
Travel blessings go with all essential workers who must be out and about. You know who you are. Thank you for your willingness to place yourselves in harms way, with little regard for your own safety.
Sittin’ and thinkin’: Prayers that you had a wonderful, if unusual Mothers Day, go out to mothers everywhere — birth mothers, adoptive mothers, foster mothers, step mothers, grands who are raising grandchildren and dual-role dads.
This beautiful tribute to each of you was sent to this columnist by her only daughter from her home in Washington State.
To My Mother, with love. For the hugs you gave, the laughs we’ve shared, the words you’ve said, the ways you’ve cared. For showing me life’s sweetest things and teaching me to spread my wings, for simply being who your are (the most amazing mom by far). For teaching me what’s right and good and making me feel understood, for always having faith in me and believing in what I could be. For all you’ve done and still do, I’m so thankful that I have you. Not original but from the beautiful sentiments in the greeting card. The loving thought makes the eyes leak salty water with happiness, because she would say those or similar words if able to be in personal contact. The three sons loving calls and caring words were just as special.Wanted you special readers/supporters of this column to know that these sincere thoughts are for you too.
