Things to do
Sympathy is extended to the family of a very special resident of Sebastopol, Sybil Sistrunk. “Miss Sybil” passed away at the age of 99 years — a great lady. She will be greatly missed.
Thanks to Lydia Bishop, Miss Meridian, for her work with the Mississippi Center for Violence Prevention, Christians in Action, and the Care Lodge and for her platform dealing with human trafficking. Lydia recently appeared at Hometown Roots seeking donations to these organizations in memory of Kaitlyn Goolsby, a fellow Sebastopol native. If you would like to still make donations to these organizations in memory of Kaitlyn, you may contact Lydia or her mother Jill Bishop. All donations are greatly appreciated.
Nancy Edwards spoke at the Magnolia Regional Meeting of Cumberland Presbyterian Woman on Saturday. Nancy was representing the Carlisle Center in Forest. This organization helps those who are in need of food. If interested in helping out, you may contact the Carlisle Center in Forest. If anyone has an extra freezer, the center is in need of freezers to preserve frozen donations that they receive. Again contact them at 601-469-1693 if you can be of help.
Congratulations to Tate Emmons who placed first in the vocal competition at the state junior Beta Convention. Tate also received the performer’s premiere golden ticket to compete in the National Beta Competition in Louisville, Kentucky in June. In addition, Tate was chosen to perform at the National Elementary and Junior Beta Convention.
Congratulations to Ms. Girling and the Spirit of Sebastopol Concert Band for their performance at state band evaluations in Pearl last week. As always, they turned out an excellent performance. The school and community appreciate all the hard work of the band director, the band members, and the parents. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations to STAR student Julia Creel and STAR teacher Brandon Cutrer.

Thought to ponder: Things to do: Smile at a stranger; write a thank you note; hold the door open; text someone you love; make a care package, surprise a friend; leave a positive review; help a neighbor; give a compliment, choose to be kind.
