We are living in difficult times not only because of this long pandemic, but also because of the violence, and the decisions of a high percentage of people who decided to ignore and oppose the sanitary measures recommended and ordered by the government in some cases. Medicines passed for many to the field of politics by other cases of religious interpretation. The wisdom given by the Holy Spirit to researchers and doctors is very quickly forgotten.
This Advent is being sad for many families, but we must never forget the peace and love that the birth of Jesus implies and means for humanity. We remember that when Joseph learned that Mary had conceived without the marriage being consummated, he was about to make drastic decisions, but the Scriptures tell us something important: “And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.’” Matthew 1:19-21 ESV. For the Jews who did not yet have the presence of Christianity, the Holy Spirit was the Person Who brought the truth of God to men. Jesus Christ when He begins his ministry from that moment until the end of time is the only Person who brings the truth of God to humanity. He is the only one who can tell us what God is like and what God wants us to be.
The birth of Jesus is the most important event in the history of mankind. In Him we see the love, compassion, mercy, purity of God more than anywhere else in the world. For this reason, it is worrying when we observe a society seeking at this time to satisfy the market and others through the purchase of material gifts. This leads us to forget not to meet again with Jesus so that it reaches our hearts, since we should see things as they are and not as the market and the social network want them to be seen.
Only Jesus can bring to life a lost soul in the darkness that exists in the world. Reading about Bethlehem I learned that in the Church of the Nativity of Bethlehem there is a cave that some scholars assert is the place where the Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus. Actually, it may or may not be true, but that place is a symbol where the door of the cave is very low and to be able to get to know it, you have to bend down. This inclination implies a message for humanity that says that it is necessary to bend down to get closer to the Child Jesus.
May God bless you and have a Merry Christmas.
