Always and Never
In our daily language we frequently use the words always and never. Generally blaming or judging others, “you always do this… you never did…”. However, these words in the Bible bring hope. “Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.” 1 Thessalonians 4:17 (ESV)
There are some seasons, especially like the one we are now experiencing with the pandemic when it seems everything is bad, and our afflictions come one after another. We desperately seek out a fair resolution but, reality indicates that we need faith. In our spiritual warfare, when in the middle of some battles it appears that we cannot win, and the main reason is we forget God’s promises. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” Joshua 1:9 (ESV)
If you don’t trust or have confidence in the Word inspired by God you will not come out of those bad situations victoriously. The solution is based in a pure heart, without resentment and hate or judgment. Our confidence in the Lord requires a full personal commitment because we can encourage one another with right attitudes and encouraging words. Examples of times like these are when somebody dies or we see how the world follows tragic courses.
Paul comforted the Thessalonians with a word of hope on resurrection, and this message is for us also, because we anticipate this promise and the only thing we have is our hope in God’s promises.
A word of encouragement is always a rest for those who are in afflictions and it just may help them to meet the finish line victoriously. One day Jesus Christ will come again and we should be ready for that event. Meanwhile, we need to help others to be ready, regardless of how long Christ’s delay is because it is part of our mission to prepare others. Always, never forget this.
“Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (ESV)
“I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling.” 1 Timothy 2:8 (ESV).
May God bless you.
