Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Once again most trips out of town revolved around sports so just hope you had safe travels. Also there were many opportunities for families to celebrate Halloween-hope you and yours had lots of fun and safe adventures.
Sittin’ and thinkin’: Some of the items reported this week really took this columnist down “Memory Lane.” Remembering the Marler’s during their courtship days and wedding gave thoughts of the weeks that Mr. Marler, (Audrey) drove throughout the Southeastern states with my father assisting him with his ladies dresses samples for selection to sell in their stores (he showed the wholesale garments for purchase — they were packed in large sample bags) and had to be transferred from car to store at each. He was still in his teens at the time. Also Annie Clyde and her family were friends and shared many memories of those days and, thankfully the present.
The other item was the precious picture of the classmates celebrating their Class of 1946 Reunion. Those “girls” were some of my idols and made me try to grow up to be like them. Of course I failed miserably. But their sense of style, hard work to excel in school, community activities and even giving me “the time of day” showing that they thought I was capable of following in their footsteps, gave me pleasure.
