Congratulations to: Coleman Dinkins, The son of John and Ali Rogers Dinkins/grandson of Ben and Randi Rogers on being among the academy’s highly selective “Mule Riders” at the West Point Military Academy. A Jackson native, graduate of Jackson Academy he is a junior which is referred to as a “cow” at West Point. Coleman is the cadet in charge of the Mule Riders who act as ambassadors during football season. This gives them the opportunity to meet and converse with many fans, some very famous individuals such as Elon Musk and Bill Murray. At times fans will ask if they can get on the mule which Dinkins says is permitted. Coleman’s mule is Paladin the smaller of the two presently comprising the team. The other mule is Ranger IV (named in honor of all Army Rangers) the larger, newer team member and is ridden by another Mississippian, Teddi Duckworth. Teddi, a Madison resident and a graduate of Madison-Ridgeland Academy/the daughter of Ted and Cherry Duckworth. She is a freshman “plebe” at West Point and rides Ranger. Needless to say these two outstanding individuals have excelled academically are dedicated to achieving high goals and will represent our state, towns and country with honor. Words cannot express our admiration for their accomplishments. (A brief selection of facts which were reported in the “Northside Sun” publication).

The first Lenten Lunch for this season found attendees enjoying fellowship, good food and a very inspiring time of worship at Morton United Methodist on Wednesday. Those attending were uplifted during a presentation by Constance Slaughter-Harvey sharing her spiritual walk form childhood to the present.
