We had a wonderful trip to the Chichester Reunion in Biloxi this past week was probably the best ever.
Bubby and Janet worked so hard to make it a success. This time we all got to visit and renew friendships, catch up on everyone and enjoy Lynn and Ben’s grands, Haley and Braden. It is hard to believe that Jamie and Chris have such adorable kiddos as well.
Also Jeff and Erins new addition, 17- month-old Benji Rose. What a blessing to be around and connected once again. Mother and Daddy always said that relatives become even more important the older we get.....and that is true!
Scott and Tristen, Peyton and Camryn came on Friday night for our seafood supper. Brent got there for a few hours which we all appreciate! And I was walking on clouds for the blessings we have all received.
Now to the blender. Here again I am amazed at what the grands can come up with and Sunday afternoon in my carport was no exception. Walker and Olivia drove us to the coast, and I showed them the bird nest Mrs. Wren had carefully built....and there were six eggs. Of course Walker got out two cameras and Olivia was so excited to see them in a box in the back of my Gator. The first item on the menu was to check the eggs. To their wonder and suprise, two of the eggs had hatched. And it was so sweet to see the little birds opening their beaks....looking for food. Olivia was worried about their round the clock feeding times. Walker explained to her that the mother bird knew what she was doing and she would come back and feed them.
Olivia was not that happy with that explanation, even though we tried to tell her that Mrs. Wren was not far away.
She still didn’t believe this. So, in my wildest dreams, Olivia asked me, “Mama Carol, if the mother doesn’t come back, how will they eat?” Then, out of the mouths of babes, she asked “If she doesn’t come back, I know what we can do.”
Are you ready for this? “We can go and dig up some worms and put them in your blender so they won’t starve.”
Excuse me? I am pretty loose when it comes to taking care of little animals, but this was like a stone building block!
“NO, I said! You may not use my blender to put live worms in to feed the birds. Walker, do you have a blender Olivia could use to scramble them in a to feed the baby birds?” Walker said they didn’t have one, and couldn’t remember ever having one!
Long story short.....the next day there were only two eggs and two baby birds. On Wednesday, they were all gone.
Thank you Lord!
