Mrs. Maxie Lou Glover Rasco’s Memorial and Home Going was a precious tribute to her life and legacy of love and service. Family and friends expressed their love, appreciation and farewell to her during the March 6th service at the W. F. Mapp Funeral Home. Rev. Sheldon Thomas officiated and delivered her eulogy. Ms. Edith Johnson was the mistress of ceremony and Dennis Hayes was the musician.
Other program participants included Rev. Rochelle Wright, Rev. Shirley Wilder, Ms. Mary Johnson, former FHA director who brought words of comfort from the State Housing Authority Association, and Constance Slaughter-Harvey, accompanied by Shirley Harris McGowan, who read a resolution from her Hawkins High School class of 1963. The resolution was presented to her son, William Jack Rasco, Jr. During her eulogy, Rev. Thomas reminded us that Mrs. Rasco was all about service and that she was like an eagle soaring above the storm. She will be remembered by her signature of service.
Our prayers are with her family especially her son, William (Vickie), brother James, and sisters Fredna Warnsley and Annie Ruth Glover. Please keep them in your prayers.
During this second week of the Lenten season, we remind our readers of Jesus’ call for forgiveness. We encourage you to try your best to forgive. If there is an offense that is just too hard to forgive, try taking a small step toward that goal; and take another step tomorrow.
Our prayers continue to be with our readers who are facing health challenges and difficult times.
