He was a graduate of North Scott High School and a former member of the McDonald’s Restaurant family in Forest. Memorial services are Saturday, November 3 at 1:00. A beautiful memorial service was held for Mrs. Stella Louise Pace Sharpe who transitioned Wednesday, October 17th. The Celebration of Life was held at Greater Deliverance COGIC with Pastor Lee Marvin McClendon officiating and delivering the eulogy. Ms. Lakeasha Harper was the mistress of ceremony. Other program participants were Revs. Vernada Pinkston and Steven McCall, Kim Brown, Michelle Sharp, Lillie Ward, Nathaniel Sharpe, Jr., Jerome Pace, Pamela Evans, Charlotte Huddleston and Alphonzo Stevens from Vicksburg. Mrs. Sharpe was remembered for her strengths of keeping her word and carrying a contagious smile. She left us a message in the life she lived. Our prayers are with her family especially her husband, Christopher L. Sharpe and children, Steve, Shantana, Cashmere, Marlon and Louise Gardner.
Dr. James Moore received a beautiful and fitting Homegoing Celebration Saturday, October 27th at Union Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce Guyton officiating and delivering the eulogy. Pastor Rochelle Wright was the master of ceremony and other program participants were Dr. Wardell Tanksley, Revs. Dewayne Peoples, Chris Harris, O. J. Hudson and Elvis Edward. Reflections and tributes were offered by fellow ministers, members of the Central MS Correctional Facility (where Rev. Moore was employed for 8 years as Chaplain), and Travelers Rest deacons (where he served as Pastor), Travelers Rest M. B. Church choir provided beautiful music. He was remembered as an excellent pastor and chaplain and one who loved the Lord. Our prayers are with his family especially his wife, Mrs. Sherry Louise Moore and children.
Our prayers are with Mrs. Mary Nichols following her fall and she is recuperating at home. Please also continue to remember Mr. Albert Moore who remains at Lackey Hospital; Julian Parker who is recuperating at home; and Mrs. Flo Chambers who is improving each day.
Congratulations to Debresha Qualls who received her Certificate of Completion for the Medical Lab Phlebotomy Training Program (National Health Care Association) on October 18, 2018. We are proud of Debresha who is a bright star in our community. A 2012 graduate of Forest High School and a member of Lynch Chapel UM Church, she volunteers for community services and is a graduate of the Yes, We Can Succeed mentoring program. Debresha is the daughter of Mrs. Debra Qualls and the late Mr. Perry Qualls. Way to go Debresha!
We enjoyed our visit from Mrs. Reena Evers-Everett, daughter of Mrs. Myrlie Evers and the late Medgar Evers. She visited the Legacy Office Tuesday and conferred with the Legacy staff, board members, and volunteers. She visited the Legacy In-School Mentoring Program at Hawkins Middle School and then travelled to Morton where she spoke during Legacy’s SOYTCA Forum on Anti-Bullying. Representatives from the Attorney General’s Office participated as Forum presenters along with Constance Slaughter-Harvey who served as program guide. Other participating on the Forum program were Principal Miles Porter and Mayor Gerald Keeton. Legacy board members Andre Hollis, Henry Slaughter, Mayor Keeton, and Shirley Sykes were present as well as Bound to Excel mentors Jody Matheny, Elmer Lowery and Roy Lowery. Hollis is also a Mentor for Bound to Excel and Slaughter and Sykes are Legacy Mentors. Legacy Mentor Andrew Crudup was also present Students responded most favorably to the presentations and they asked many questions. A very special thanks to Principal Porter and the Bettye Mae Jack family for the excellent hospitality, support and delicious luncheon meal. Kudos to Mrs. Evers-Everett for her interest in and support of our community’s youth.

Kudos to the Principal Clay Thrash and the Scott Central Attendance Center family for the excellent support of the Legacy — Save Our Youth through Community Action Anti-Bullying Forum held Monday, October 22nd in the Scott Central Cafeteria. Middle School students, grades 6, 7, and 8, listened attentively to the Anti-Bullying presentations by Jon Weeks of Families First in Mississippi. Youth Court Prosecutor Constance Slaughter-Harvey was the program guide. Mentors Shirley Sykes, Andrew Crudup and Henry Slaughter assisted in the presentation and also rewarded participants with fruity treats. Students enjoyed the presentations and asked that these Forums continue.
