Ready or not, here comes school
It is over, done, finished … summer break that is. Teachers and students returned to school this week. People always ask if I am ready for school to start back. The answer to that is the same as in a game of hide-and-seek, “Ready or not, here I come!” Or, in the case of the school year, here it comes!
Scott Central is starting with a bang and will play in its first football game this Friday, August 10th, in a Jamboree at Forest High School. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. and all SC Fans should wear blue. We are excited to have our former student, teacher and coach, Devin Cooper, back home where he belongs. The regular season will start the next Friday, August 17th, when SC hosts Enterprise.
Everyone should also check out the post on the Scott Central Athletics facebook page. Three former Rebel football players, currently deployed with the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, sent a special message for Coach Devin Cooper and the Rebels!
Harperville Baptist Church will kick off Wednesday Night children and youth activities with a Back to School night at the HBC gym on August 15th at 6:30 p.m.
On August 2, Seth McDaniel graduated from the Law Enforcement Training Academy. I have known this young man almost his entire life. He and his family moved into our community and started attending HBC when Seth was not much older than his son, Jax. It is so gratifying to see one of our own become such an upstanding and fine representative of his family, his church, his community and his Lord. Congratulations, Seth, and thank you for your willingness to serve as a law enforcement officer.
On Saturday, August 18th, the family of Mrs. Hester Gardner will host a 90th birthday Celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. in the HBC Fellowship Hall. All family and friends are invited to attend and share in this celebration.
