Spring Break is March 11-15
Congratulations to the SC Rebel Archery team for their First Place finish in the 1A/2A division at the 2019 Cougar Classic. The top 12 finishers were Bryan Perkins, Lane Gunn, Nate Reiss, Diem Mi Pham, Tammy Vo, Lyndi Money, Nic Boswell, Waylon Crimm, Braden Chisolm, Tommy Pham, Tyler Vo and Cassie Cook. The Archery team is coached by Jonathan and Cassie Jacobs.
The SC Powerlifting Team placed third in the North State competition which qualifies them to advance to the State Competition in April. First Place finishers were Jordan Pace, Javarious McBeath, and Lajavis Patrick. Also placing in the event were Henry Butler, Jalen Wells, Navonteque Strong, DJ Black and Carson Williams. The powerlifting team is coached by Tevin Nickols.
SC Baseball and Softball teams have had to cancel several games due to the unrelenting rain. However, the Rebels were able to play and defeated Forest 9-3 in the Scott County Tournament and the Jr. High team defeated Newton County 12-6 and 12-2 on March 2.
There will be no nine week tests given this week. There will be benchmark/snapshot testing in all state tested areas Wed-Fri. Spring Break will be March 11-15, 2019.
Rev. Cook’s 6th Grade Art Class and Gifted students visited the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art in Laurel. The students viewed works from famous artists and an exhibit about Mississippi’s own, Leontyne Price. During the visit, the students also created oil pastel and watercolor mixed media art.
The Beauty/Beau Pageant will be held at Scott Central on March 30th. Forms have been sent home with all students in grades K-6. Forms are available in the office for students in junior high and high school. The deadline to enter is March 8th.
