Congratulations to the newlyweds

Commencement exercises were held for the graduating Class of 2019 on Tuesday, May 21st at 8:00 p.m. The program began with the entrance of 52 members of the graduating class. As the seniors entered the field, they placed red roses in five baskets. Ms. Victoria Thrash welcomed family and friends to the event and special introductions and instructions were given by Principal Steven Overstreet. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Ms. Jessica Darby, followed by an alto saxophone presentation of The Star Spangled Banner by Scott Central Band Director, Mr. Dustin Haley.   At that time, the seniors of the class recognized their former classmates who passed away prior to this occasion.  Mses. Olivia Triplett, Jessica Darby, Zykerra Kincaid, Jessica Reiss, Magen Burnham and Chryselynn Martin presented the roses to the family members of the deceased students.  They also lit and released a lantern on which the names of those five students were written.

After being introduced by High School Counselor, Ms. Shanika Hickmon, the Salutatory and Valedictory addresses were given by Mr. Philip Bulloch and Ms. Diem Mi Thi Pham, respectively.  The eighteen honor graduates were recognized and presented plaques and then the graduating class members were presented with their diplomas.  The benediction was offered by Mr.  Ashton Tatum and the class was confirmed and presented by Mr. Overstreet. Following the tossing of the hats, a fireworks display was provided by Coach Will Boswell. 

Courtney McDaniel and Colton Adcox were united in matrimony on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at a lovely outdoor ceremony at the wedding venue, The Aisle, in Attala County.  The wedding was officiated by Jason Tillman in the presence of the couples’ family and friends. The bride was beautiful in a sheath lace gown and she was attended by seven bridesmaids consisting of her sisters, future sister-in-law, cousins and close friends. The groom and groomsmen wore tan jackets, white shirts, blue jeans and boots. Following the ceremony, a reception was hosted for the attendees with a meal, music and dancing. Congratulations and the very best wishes to this sweet couple. 

First time visitor of Irene Martin this week was Melissa Bates, Forkville.  The Martins enjoyed a cookout Sunday afternoon celebrating Steve and Karon’s anniversary, Karon’s birthday and her baptism at Harperiville Baptist Church. Getting together were Irene, Steve, Karon, Russell, Mary and Tara Martin, Zach Whittington, Wayne, Cathy, Elijah and Justus Harvey.
