Teachers return to School
I have been out of town for the past couple of weeks. We hurriedly traveled to Zachary, Louisiana to be present for the birth of our first grandchild, Emery Rose, who made her appearance a week early. In the midst of threats of flooding from Hurricane Barry, she was born on July 10th. I am happy to share that both mom and baby are great and there was no flooding! Both sets of grandparents are just over the moon in love with our perfect little angel. Suddenly, a three and half hour drive does not seem very far at all.
This week, teachers will be returning to school to get ready for the arrival of students on August 6th. There will be professional development workshops and other activities taking place in preparation for the beginning of the new school year.
At Harperville Baptist Church, Vacation Bible School will begin on Thursday. The ages are K3-5th grade and will begin at 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday night. A meal will be provided both nights. VBS will conclude on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. This year’s VBS has a country western theme. Many hours of preparation have gone into making this a worthwhile event for the children of our community. The event is open to any children who would like to attend.
Irene, Steve and Karon Martin, Kathy Lee, Joni and Reese Tillman attended the funeral of Jeanette Noel in New Orleans. Jeanette was the wife of Raymond Noel, the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Noel and Mr. and Mrs. John Raymond Burnham, Sr.
