By SHEILA SANDERS,

Only four home football games this year

Harperville Baptist Church will host a Time of Reviving and Renewal beginning next Sunday, August 25th. The event will be led by five different pastors along with their praise/worship teams.  On Sunday morning, Bro. Matt Armstrong, Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church will lead the services, followed by a potluck luncheon. The Sunday evening service will be presented by Bro. Andy Boles, Pastor of Embrace Church. On Monday, at 6:30 p.m., the pastor of Sebastopol Baptist, Bro. James Clark, will bring the message. On Tuesday evening, Rev. Joshua Smith, Pastor of North Morton Baptist Church, will lead the revival services and on Wednesday, Bro. Reggie Williams, Missions Director of the Scott County Baptist Association, will bring the final service.  Everyone is invited to join us for these special revival and renewal services.

Last Wednesday was the kick-off for HBC’s Wednesday night children’s and youth programs.  Bro. Jason Tillman told the congregation that the kick-off may have been very hot and somewhat smelly, but it was greatly enjoyed by everyone in attendance. All children from Kindergarten to the Sixth grade are invited to attend the children services each Wednesday night. Likewise, all local youth, grades 7-12 are welcome. They are not required to be members of Harperville BC to attend. The Youth will begin an interesting new Bible Study entitled, “The Real World.”

Meet the Rebels was held on August 13 to introduce all the athletic teams and their coaches, the Rebel Pride Marching Band and the Cheerleaders. It looked like a graduation ceremony as the gymnasium was packed with supporters.  There is a lot of enthusiasm and excitement about the upcoming season from all the various teams and groups.   Football season begins with a bang this Thursday when we host Taylorsville. Also, the 1999 Scott Central Championship football team will be recognized at the SC/Taylorsville game.

Please note that Scott Central has only four home games this season. Three of these games will be played at 7 PM on Thursday nights. The only Friday night game will be the Homecoming game against Charleston on 9/20/2019.

The SC 2018-2019 yearbook will be arriving in September.  These yearbooks may be pre-purchased in the high school office for the special price of $35.  Don’t miss your opportunity to get your copy before they are all gone and the price goes to $45.
