No School on Monday January 20
The Men’s Bible Study at Harperville Baptist had a great start with 22 men in attendance. This is a joint undertaking between the Harperville Baptist and the Little Rock Missionary Baptist churches. There is still plenty of room and books available to men in the county who would like to join in this time of fellowship and study with fellow believers. The men are studying the Tony Evans book, “Kingdom Man.” The group will meet each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Harperville.
Harperville Baptist will host its annual Grandparents Valentine’s Banquet on Friday, February 14th at 6:30 p.m. I am looking forward to this event as this will be the first year that Greg and I are eligible to attend thanks to our sweet little granddaughter, Emery Rose.
The second half of the school year kicked off last week. Report cards were issued to students last Thursday for the first semester. We are smack in the thick of basketball season with games being played nearly every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Scott Central hosted the Scott County Tournament last week. Congratulations to Boys Champions, Morton Panthers and Girl Champions, Lake Hornets. This week, SC traveled to Philadelphia on Tuesday, and will play Sebastopol at home on Thursday and will travel to Lake on Friday. No school next Monday, January 20, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.
We had a close call from the terrible storms that moved through our state and county last Saturday morning. Although some homes were damaged here in Scott County, no lives were lost, and we are so thankful for God’s continued protection.
