Indifference is the lack of concern and interest for or against something or a person. Many times indifference leads to the inability to decide between issues that are vital to our lives and mixed incompatible issues. “And Elijah came near to all people and said. “How long will you be limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” And the people did not answer him a word.” 1 Kings 18:21 (ESV) And that is happening in the present world when many choose to follow idols and not God.
Scholars believe that the smart phone is destroying the last generations of young people who are accustomed to spend many hours daily unduly. Children have now been introduced to the system that guides tens of millions of human beings toward extreme individualism by alienating them from healthy interpersonal relationships with society. The result is a feeling of spiritual loneliness and indifference to others, which includes the Kingdom of God. Unfortunately, the social network stopped being useful due to the abuse by the majority.
From its inception the church has had a vital mission for society, and the elders must be aware that we must guide and be an example for these generations. Our spiritual responsibility should guide young people in the journey toward the goals set forth by God in the Word. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)
We must break the indifference by pointing to society: “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” Colossians 3:2-4 (ESV) So it is important to note that indifference and not serving God is dangerous. If we believe that the Bible is the Word of God, we should not be indifferent but submit to His divine teaching. Let us show that our affection is with Christ and only with Him we will have the glory.
Spending many hours on the smart phone with the sole goal of self-satisfaction only produces indifference for others and for God. Experts say that addiction to such phones brings serious psychological consequences among which depression is the most notorious.
The people of God are different and we need to show it to all those who have fallen into indifference and telephone addiction with foreseeable results. We give all glory to God and the only way to do it is not being indifferent.
May God bless you.
