Family and friends celebrated the life and legacy of Mr. Johnny Marvin “Red” Thomas, Sr. Saturday, June 8th at Lynch Chapel U. M. Church. Rev. Sheldon Thomas, his nephew, officiated and delivered the eulogy. Mrs. Bonnie Floyd Stowers was the mistress of ceremony. Lynch Chapel Pastor Shirley Ann Wilder and Rev. Floyd McConnell provided the scripture. Other program participants included Dr. Larry Weathers, Mrs. Louella McConnell, Mayor Nancy Chambers, Supervisor Jackie Bradford (Hawkins Class of 1969) and Chadric Kincaid.
Our prayers are with his family especially his children, Roxanne Thomas Cross, Jaycie Mario (Jasmine), and Rochelsey (Dedric) McDonald; and siblings Albert, Henry (Patsy), Deroy, Jr., Gladys Harris, Bernice (Theoplis) Hayes, Emma Merle Reed, Jenia Turner, Delore (Joe) Nelson, and Carolyn Russell. Mapp Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Our prayers are with Mrs. Danielle Latimore Thagard and family in the loss of her husband, Aubrey Thagard of Ft. Worth, TX. Memorial services were held Saturday, June 8th at Mt. Helm Baptist Church in Jackson. Aubrey worked in the office of Secretary of State Dick Molpus for several years, and at the time of his transition, he was employed as Director of Neighborhood Services in Ft. Worth. Pastor Rev. C. Edward Rhodes officiated. Memorial program participants were, among others, Sharon Smith, Pamela Williams, his former supervisor, Constance Slaughter-Harvey, former Jackson mayor Harvey Johnson, Dr. Reginald Rigsby, former colleagues Purvie Green, Rev. Frenchye Magee, and Archons of Beta Gamma Boule’. Please keep his family in your prayers.

Legacy Change Agents are enjoying their Summer Camp experiences as they accept the reading, fun, learning and adventures challenges. Camp CARE (Change Agents Reading Explosion) kicked off Tuesday, June 3rd and this session will run until Thursday, June 27th.
