It’s time to stop looking back at our failures!
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)
As you are reading this, you might be thinking, “I have committed so many sins. I’m a terrible person.” But your loving Heavenly Father sees you differently! He is a forgiving God who loves to restore us! He doesn’t see what we see. We might see ourselves as a total failure, but He sees us as pliable clay with much potential to be molded into a beautiful piece of art. He doesn’t throw our mistakes of the past in our face or constantly remind us of our failures, but instead covers us with His love and grace.
“You are the Potter, we are the clay.” (Isaiah 64:8)
God encourages us to not look back at our past but know that today, this day, is a “new beginning.” No matter what we’ve said or done last year or yesterday, it’s a new day with Jesus! He doesn’t want us to look back at our failures and hurts, but to look forward at what He is presently doing in our lives!
Even with the hurts and disappointments that we have encountered, God is telling us to not look back and dwell 24/7 on those hurts, but to look ahead, taking one step at a time. Healing comes when we focus on Jesus, the Healer, and choose to move forward.
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
I love the old children’s song, “Every day with Jesus, is sweeter than the day before…”
Friends, it’s a new day with Jesus! No, you can’t change your past, but you can make a difference with your present and future. God cares so much about you! He has fresh, new plans for you, and a beautiful, successful future!
So where do you start? Begin with prayer since “Prayer changes everything!” Surrender your stubborn will and let God lead and guide you. The devil will try to remind you of your tainted past, but ignore him and stay focused on Jesus who died on the cross to give you a life of freedom! Your sins have been forgiven! Get excited about what He desires to do in your life! Some of our best-known ministers had a rough past but God put them on the Potter’s Wheel and molded them to be Christ-like. He’ll do the same for you!
Let’s spend time with Him daily. His word (the Bible) will be fresh each day. Today, pray in love and faith (in the name of Jesus) and see your relationship grow and your healing begin.. Your past is over!
It’s a new day!
