God is our Comfort Zone
Do you feel betrayed by someone? Are you hurting?
“You are my hiding place, O lord; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.” (Psalm 32:7)
When our hearts are hurting, we can be comforted and assured that God is our “hiding place” (comfort zone). Jesus is with us in the midst of our fiercest storm and will protect and keep us from drowning!
“For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.” (Psalm 27:5)
He is our refuge (place of shelter) when we’re attacked by the words or actions of others. We don’t need to fight back, but instead choose to love and forgive. God will vindicate and restore us!
There have been times in my life where people verbally attacked me. I’m not sure whether they felt they were right or not, but their harsh and hurtful words felt like a knife in my chest or back. Did I handle each attack the Godly way? Sadly no.
As I reflect back over the years, I can recall times where I let my tongue fight back in defense. Of course, I always felt terrible after I had retaliated. I knew in my heart that God wasn’t pleased with my actions. No, my choices didn’t reflect God’s love in my life. Our harsh words do not give us victory! Rising above what others think or say is a sign we are becoming more like Jesus! If we will allow, He will take care of our crisis. The way we handle each battle is a choice. Let’s choose to love and forgive others no matter the situation.
“The righteous (us) cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from All their troubles.” (Psalm 34:17)
Just like children who run to their parents when they scrap their knees or get hurt, we can always run to our Heavenly Father for safety and comfort.
Friends, there are times when we must stand strong through prayer, but there are other times when we’re so hurt and burdened that we should crawl into Abba Father’s lap for comfort. One thing I’ve learned in my life is that God will heal our hearts if we will allow. He does NOT desire for us to live with hurt and bitterness! It will literally destroy us! Love and forgiveness will bring healing and peace to our brokenness.
“The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
That’s His promise, and He NEVER breaks a promise!
“You are my refuge and my shield, O Lord; I have put my hope in Your word.” (Psalm 119:114)
Today, if you’re hurting, please run to God. He is waiting with open arms to comfort and heal you.
Friends, He loves you!
