A thankful heart
A thankful heart can and will change your situation (no matter how painful or hopeless it seems).
“You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will praise you forever.” (Psalm 30:11-12)
This scripture reveals that God can and will turn around the situation that we’re going through! No matter how difficult it may seem, God can and will turn it around! We might feel as if we are at the bottom of a pit, with no way out, or we might be stressed, disappointed, hurt, angry, or sad but God promises to remove those negative emotions and fill us with His joy (our strength)! This strength from our Heavenly Father will sustain us in the worst of storms facing us!
What do we have to do to get relief? Believe in the power of His Word and be grateful with a thankful heart! Worship (love and thanks) will turn around any dark situation trying to cause despair and discouragement in our lives. God is faithful, full of love, comfort, and joy!
Giving God thanks touches His heart. It should be a priority in our lives no matter what we’re facing. We should thank Him in the good and bad times. Why in the bad times? You are thanking Him for loving and caring for you and thanking Him in advance that He will provide a way where there seems to be no way.
When Jesus met with the disciples in the upper room for communion, the first priority was to give His Father “thanks” before He broke the bread.
“The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks (first), He broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” (1 Corinthians 11:23-24)
Yes, even with the horrific storm of death facing Him, Jesus gave thanks to His Father. This is a beautiful example for us to follow. It’s much easier to thank God in the good times; but when our world is caving in on us, it’s not only a challenge, but also necessary for our break through.
Being thankful says, “God I will trust and rely on your plans for me.”
When we’re facing difficult times we have a choice to make:
1. We can choose to be thankful knowing He’ll be with us through our storm.
or……
2. We can throw ourselves a big pity party and possibly remain in a pit of despair.
I choose to be thankful so I can experience victory!
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1Corinthians 15:57)
Let’s choose to be thankful knowing He will make a way for us!
